Fall 2014 Member Retreat

  • 19 Oct 2014
  • 3:00 PM
  • Nevada City, CA

CASBA Members are invited to gather in Nevada City for 2-1/2 days of hands-on plastering, helping to complete the wall finishes on the home of Barbara Roemer and Glenn Miller.

Barbara holds a special place in CASBA history and shares some hand in the introduction of straw bale construction to California, having invited Judy Knox and Matts Myhrman to hold a community forum and assist her fifth graders in putting up a straw  bale building in Sacramento, in 1993.  We will be headquartered at the urban farm she and Glenn are developing, which has room for camping, and several local members will also be sharing their straw bale homes for home stays over the weekend.

This is a great chance to socialize and network with CASBA member and have a good time as well as plastering.

Attendance is limited to 30 and the cost to cover catered meals will be $35 per person.

Details including directions, accommodation options, menus, etc. will be posted on the website by early October.

Questions may be addressed to CASBA at info@strawbuilding.org.

CASBA is fiscally sponsored by the Tides Center, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization.
