Jacob is a founder of New Frameworks, a Vermont based worker owned design-build cooperative committed to building with locally sourced natural materials like native hardwood, clay, and straw. He has taught in several natural building programs (Endeavor Centre, Yestermorrow), and is the author of a book about building science and natural building.

This Year’s Topics Include:

Intro to straw building: straw bale and light-straw-clay

finding work in natural building

fire resistant building features

finish plaster

hempcrete construction

cob code and testing update

 Presenters Include:

Bob Theis, Lydia Doleman, David Arkin, Massey Burke, Sukita Reay Crimmel, Anthony Dente, Tracy Thieriot, James Henderson, Steve Sheldon, Ben Korman and more!

Activities:

Plaster demonstrations: including hands on participation

5x5s and 20x20s: Conference participants are invited to bring digital images to share during the popular evening slide shows. Let us know who your are and what you do - or show us your latest project! Your only limits are 5 images in 5 minutes, or 20 images at an average of 20 seconds each. (you can sign up while registering)

Book launch: CASBA will be celebrating the publication of our book Straw Bale Building Details: An Illustrated Guide for Design and Construction, which will be for sale at the event. Many of the contributing authors will be available to sign it.

Our planning committee is working on the final line-up and schedule, which we will post soon, so keep your eyes on our website for more info!

Our full conference fee includes Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. Accommodation is separate.  We also offer an Offsite option for the weekend if you'd prefer to make your own lodging arrangements. (You can note this choice in the registration form)
