2 Day Clay Plaster Workshop September 28-29 in El Sobrante, CA

Come learn about Clay Plaster at this 2 day workshop where we will apply clay plasters on a straw bale wrap home renovation under construction at Wild and Radish Farm. Wild and Radish LLC is a sustainable, urban farm and Eco Village working on building diverse and multigenerational affordable housing on 13 acres in El Sobrante.

In this workshop, we will be using the native clay soil as a base material for the plaster. Participants will get hands on experience applying the scratch and brown coat of the plastering on the building. We will mix the plaster on site and apply it to the exterior straw bale wrapping the building.

The goal of the workshop is to  provide a broad experience to beginning plasterers. A mix of instruction time and hands on experience will provide you with the basic knowledge of straw bale building and plasters. Lunch time will allow for presentations and additional question/answer time.

Instructor:

The plastering instructors are Massey Burke and Yoshi Makino. Massey is a professional natural plasterer and the co-director of CASBA. Yoshi is an art teacher and professional plasterer with many years of natural plastering under her belt.
