Introduction to Light Straw Clay Wall Systems

A three day workparty: July 15-17, 2022 in Menlo Park, CA.

Come discover the benefits of Light Straw Clay as a natural, carbon-storing urban infill and remodel technique!  During this 3-day educational work party conducted on a Menlo Park remodel, we will cover intro to LSC, mixing techniques, and the install process. 

Work party will be held over 3 days, from 10AM to 4PM from Friday July 15 to Sunday July 17.  The instructor will repeat the educational component each day for newcomers, so feel free to RSVP for any number of days. There is no cost for participants, but the minimum commitment is one full day. 

The project site is a single family home remodel, featuring light straw clay for insulation and a substrate for clay plaster for one of the home’s original walls.   There is no camping on site, but lodging and camping are generally available around the Bay Area.

This is a hands-on opportunity to work with light straw clay, and we’ll be on a construction site, so plan on wearing closed toe footwear and clothes that will get muddy, and bring gloves and protective eyewear.  Event location and more details will be sent with RSVP.
