Join Golden Rocks Permaculture Farm for an amazing event with Natural Building legendary plaster artist Athena Steen! Supported by Cole Ferguson, Natural Building expert and local contractor, and Michael G. Smith, author of The Hand-Sculpted House, this 5-day interactive, hands-on workshop will inspire you to step into YOUR next project in a powerful way!

We will be teaching sculpted cob, earthen floors and amazing earthen plasters using the age-old tradition of utilizing materials from our land. Clay, sand, rocks, sticks, and straw, as well as other plaster and floor-making medium will be harvested and used to do our work. The workshop includes lectures, introduction to materials and tools, teaching and exampling application styles, and plenty of hands-on practice.

The workshop includes camping, 3 meals per day and snacks. Food is mostly plant-based and grown in our gardens, or by farmer friends in the area. Some protein will also be provided for those in need of meat, eggs and milk products!

About the instructors:

Athena Steen, legendary straw bale and plaster artist and creator of The Canelo Project.

Cole Fergurson, Natural Builder, and Licensed Contractor,  has been lead builder on many completed homes, and assisted in more than forty earthen builds and workshops, including timber-framed, straw bale houses and Earthships!

Michael G. Smith, Author of The Hand-Sculpted House will join us for a day of lessons not to be missed! Michael’s work can be found on his website, www.strawclaywood.com.
