Join us November 11-12, 2023 in Ione for a Clay Plaster Workshop in beautiful Amador County. In this two day event we will be going over plaster preparation details (stuffing, meshing, papering, screeds, etc) and applying a clay plaster base coat to this unique custom home and adjacent ADU in Ione, CA. The home is designed by OrganicForms Design and built by Rich Wright Construction for long time CASBA members Mike and Deborah Pulskamp. Come learn the details of this very necessary step in building a straw bale house and creating the foundation for a successful plastering process. The goal of the workshop is to accommodate every participant’s interest and skill level. Instruction by Kita Glass, a natural builder in Santa Cruz, and Darles Eaton, a natural builder in the East Bay with Special Guest Instructor Jim Reiland, a newly retired straw bale contractor in Oregon with decades of experience in straw bale, straw bale renovation, and plastering. Evenings and meal times will allow for additional question/answer time and presentations. There is room for camping outside, inside the unfinished home, or under the breezeway roof, as well as room for camper vans and RVs, in addition to hotels/motels in the area. There are opportunities to visit the organic farm on site or cool off in the creek, or warm up by the fire pit. Saturday breakfast through Sunday Lunch provided. Please register at https://www.strawbuilding.org/event-5445100.

Cost:   $150. *Limited scholarships available upon request.

Please do not come if you are feeling sick, we will reimburse your tuition.
