Join us November 4-5, 2023 for a Straw Bale Workshop in Santa Rosa, Ca at the home of longtime CASBA member Peter Dodsworth. In this two-day workshop we will be preparing, trimming, stacking, and securing straw bales into walls for a new residential home. Designed by architect Claudia Cleaver and engineer Bruce King, the house uses the method of Bales on End Between Studs (BOEBS) in order to simplify framing and installation.

The goal of the workshop is to accommodate every participant’s interest and skill level. Instruction by Kita Glass, a natural builder in Santa Cruz, and Bob Theis, an architect in the East Bay specializing in straw bale homes. Evenings and meal times will allow for additional question/answer time and presentations. There is limited room on-site for camping in camper vans or other vehicles, but unfortunately no tent camping. There are numerous hotels, motels, and air bnb's in the area. Saturday breakfast through Sunday Lunch provided. Please register at https://www.strawbuilding.org/event-5448940.

Cost:   $150. Limited scholarships available.

Please do not come if you are feeling sick, we will reimburse your tuition.
